Sometimes on Mac the USB port you have access to is on a shared hub, giving less power. The port on the other side is not sharing, and has more to give to external devices like hard drives. Mar 08, 2010 I have a 250GB Lacie external hard drive that used to show up on the desktop on my mac but now it won't. It does not show up in the disk utility either. I recently tried to connect a new LaCie 250 gig external hard drive (D2 Extreme with Triple Interface) to my new PowerBook G4. After plugging the drive into the power source (and the power supply into an outlet), the blue light on the drive went on and it made whirring noises, sounding like it was starting up.
Okay, so today, I needed my 500gb LACIE harddrive again to get something off of it. I haven't used the drive in awhile, and it's been in my closet, with a book ontop of it. The book isn't heavy. So I connected everything back to it again, but when I turned it on, the LED just blinked yellow and orange and makes this clicking noise. It won't connect to the computer and it just keeps blinking. Can anyone help me with this? Is it supposed to do this when it hasn't been in use for awhile? I'm really troubled and alot of important stuff was on that drive.Lacie Hard Drive Won't Connect To Mac External Hard Drive
